GPD to conduct "unannounced" drug sweeps at GDOE schoolsWritten by Rebecca Elmore
Guam - In an effort to reduce illegal drugs on campus, the Guam Police Department has announced that they’ll be working alongside GDOE to conduct unannounced drug sweeps.
GPD says they will now look into allegations of drugs and any other illegal or prohibited items on school campuses.
GPD Spokesperson Captain Kim Santos said a memorandum of understanding is currently being drafted so both departments can work together to develop a strategy moving forward.
In a press release, Police Chief JI Cruz tells media, “The Guam Police Department has and always will maintain a positive working relationship with the Guam Department of Education to promote the safety of our island’s children, which is a priority for us.”
GPD says they will also be working with the Office of the Attorney General of Guam to find and address areas of concern.
