American Honda is expecting to make over 2,800 repairs on Guam and only about 30 to 40 repairs have been made thus far.

Guam - Honda and Acura drivers, there's been a massive recall that could cause serious injury or fatality due to faulty airbags.

To combat this, Triple J Auto Group is encouraging all Honda and Acura drivers to stop by their Repair-A-Thon taking place from now until Saturday May 27th at the Agana Shopping Center Parking Lot next to Wendy's.

American Honda is expecting to make over 2,800 repairs on Guam and only 30 to 40 repairs have been made thus far.

Trained technicians will be on site between 8am-and 5pm, but Honda Senior Manager, Mike Burke says their team will accommodate anyone a little before or after that time frame.

“We have a safety recall and it’s actually a real world safety recall, it's unfortunately a situation where we have to say there's been some deaths and injuries because of this problem. And it's most risky in the hot humid areas, much like the climate we have here on Guam. What happens is the airbag itself becomes saturated with the humidity and it over pressurizers. And when it over pressurizes and when it goes off, it has the tendency to tear a heavy metal casing, and that will cause metal pieces to fly at the occupant...prevent that from happening to anyone here on Guam,” he explained.

The American Honda group will only be on Guam for ten 10 days.

The repairs are free and Vehicle owners can determine if their vehicles are affected by recalls by visiting recalls.hondacom or recalls. Acura.com or by contacting Triple J Auto Group at 648-6152.
